Hi all,

I don't have either of my bikes insured. I tend to keep them pretty secure, but wondering what the best options are. Anyone had any positives/negatives of doing under contents insurance? Better to go specific cycle insurance scheme?

Thanks

Do it as part of your house insurance. Much cheaper.

£20 month for specialist, £5 month under house contents for £5k of cover. Had to buy a lock and floor anchor for £70.

Haven't had to claim yet (thankfully) but Pedal Cover are a combined cycle and home insurance broker and were really competitive. Insured all my bikes and house for less than what Wiggle wanted just for my good bike as a standalone policy!

Mine are on my house and contents insurance (John Lewis).
Any bike up to £1,000 is automatically covered and any over that value are named for a small increase in premium.

It's not always cheaper to just add to house insurance, so don't just accept their quote. I went through Assetsure in the end.

  • I guess it depends on the value of your bike.

I have personal cover and any bike I ride is covered with theft up to the value of £1000, it's £4.80 a month.

It depends on bike in fact, I have my bike insured together with my house.
