Cyclist or Canyon Track Day

Has anyone done a Cyclist Track Day? I'm trying to figure out if they're worth £65 - which seems expensive. I'm interested in the range of bike brands, but particularly in the Canyons. And I see that Canyons are doing a few free demo days of their own.

  • They are pushing this heavily aren't they! I suppose it depends on whether you think a hot meal, goody bag and a day being marketed a limited number of bikes worth £65. Personally I don't, especially seeing as the nearest one to me is about 2 hours drive away.

I suppose if I were in the market for a new bike, and there were 6, 7 or 8 bikes I was specifically looking at, then it might be worthwhile - it would save going around numerous shops and getting a 'once-round-the-car-park/block' test ride.

PS - I haven't done it by the way, so have no experience of it.

Canyon have one coming up at Mercedes Benz World soon (24th/25th March) which is free https://www.facebook.com/events/2101961756497613/ and they'll be at Castle Coombe on 29th April (Cyclist track day). The cyclist ones seem ridiculously expensive to me.

We went to the Odd Down, Bath event yesterday put on by road.cc and that cost £12.50, but gave the OH the chance to ride a couple of Canyons. They were pretty relaxed about how long you could ride for, but you may have to queue to get on the bike of your choice in the right size. Staff friendly and helpful on the Canyon stand though.
  • You pay to test ride bikes on a track!!?? WOW
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
  • Yup - agree with all sentiments on here that the Cyclist track day is an awful lot of money.

That having been said I am in the market for a new bike and the option of trying a whole load in one go is mighty tempting. Then again, I guess if I pulled my finger out and went down to somewhere like Sigma Sports, I could probably achieve the same thing for free - but without Canyon. On reflection that's got to be the right answer: do one of the Canyon days for free and just visit a well stocked shop for the rest.

I live in York where one of the events is and there is no chance I would pay £65 to demo bikes. In previous years Colnago have attended but it looks like not this year, the new C64 would be the only bike I would be interested in riding but I would'nt pay to do so.
