Reindexing when on/off Turbo??

I replaced Wheels, cables, cassette, chain and inner ring in the past couple of weeks.
I replaced like for like, same 10 speed cassette, same ratios etc.
I've got a strange dilemma, that I wonder if anyone else has experienced.
When I have the bike perfectly set up and indexed, it rides fine on the road (some minor adjustments yesterday, but putting that down to cable stretch)
When I then replace the skewer and put the bike on the turbo .. the indexing is out of whack.
When I index the bike on the turbo .. it's fine .... when I take it off and replace the skewer.... knackered again.
I've checked everything .. stripped the cassette off again .. double checked the spacer required was on the wheel... all looks good.
Anybody out there had this??

What kind of turbo?0

It's a Kickr Snap .... had no problems with it previously. And it's a wheel on turbo (should have mentioned that in the original post!!!)0

Since putting a new chain on my bike I can't access the 11t on my turbo wheel cassette, no idea why and have just written it off. All 22 gears on the road wheel work perfectly, and the 21 on the turbo are great. Just not the 11. No idea why.0

I have this issue with my Kickr, but the issue is caused by the Kickr being direct-drive. The cassette is in a slightly different position on the Kickr to what it is on my rear wheel, so the indexing is off. I can't imagine why it would occur when you are using your new wheel and the casette doesn't move :?: :?:0

1) How tightly are you clamping the rear axle into place - could you somehow be squeezing the chain line out of alignment? 2) Cable routing/tension? I needed to pay attention to the position of the rear derailer cable loop when I was clamping the rear axle into my trainer. I now have an old bike permanently set up in the trainer so no longer an issue.0

I've had the same issue with my Tacx turbo trainer. I believe that the clamping force is very slightly moving the dropout or derailleur hanger, causing the issue. Its minor enough that I don't really care about it.0

I have the same issue with my Kickr, I have to slightly adjust the rear derailleur when swapping on or off the trainer and putting the wheel in.Paracyclist

What happens if you leave the turbo skewer in all the time? Do you need to re index then?0
