Tubeless Rim Tape

I have some WTB STp i29 rims. I am pretty new to tubeless and I was under the impression that to make them tubeless I would need to fit some tubeless rim tape (so I brought some).
I have just removed the tyres and found it has got some yellow tape on already (see attached photo). Is it already fitted with tubeless tape (it’s a different texture to the tape I’ve just brought) or do I need to remove this and fit proper tape?

That looks like normal rim strip, not tubeless tape. You should find that it's not stuck down, just tight fitting.YT Wicked 160 ltd

Great, thank you. I though as much, just didn’t want to remove it then find out I could’ve left it on. Thanks!0

I would say that it’s rim tape, especially as it clearly states tubeless compatible on the rim.0

I would agree, you could test this buy fitting a tubeless ready tyre to the rim without any sealant and see if the tyre holds air for 24 hours etc?
If it doesnt then take it off and apply some of the rim tape you bought.0
