New bike - "crunchy" brakes
Taken delivery of a new Cube Attain GTC Race today. Brakes are non-series Shimano RS500 dual pivots, apparently similar to 105 calipers.
There's a certain amount of what I can only call granular crunchiness when pulling on the brake levers which I wasn't expecting. I'm coming from cable disc brakes on Tiagra levers which were much smoother at the lever so I don't know if this is normal? Levers are 2017 spec Ultegra and seem to be the source of the crunch. Any ideas?

Is the noise coming from the rims or somewhere along the cable or it’s route through the frame and bars undercthectape or the shifter itself?0

It's when the bike is stationary (and presumably when it's moving too) - seems to come from the lever. Rear much worse than the front which makes me wonder if it's cable related...Rules are for fools.0 -
It could be the cables just rubbing inside the outers. Which is annoying but not a safety issue. If both are doing it I’d say it’s just whoever built the bike did a crap job making sure they were clean before installation0

Agree friction in cables - would be surprised if any effect on function. Best ignored........FFS! Harden up and grow a pair0
