Can anyone recommend a tablet mount for a Nexus 7 to be used solely on an indoor turbo training bike (ie. no weatherproofing reqd!)?

Cheers.

Take a look at the Tacx one in Halfords, adjustable for various size tablets. You can also probably get one from Wiggle/CRC etc, might be cheaper.

Forgot to say, it needs to hold the tablet in Portrait mode...

Seems like that Tacx one is geared towards Landscape mode ('cos that's how Tacx's app was oriented). Reading the reviews and questions indicates it'd only hold a Nexus 7 in Landscape, so no cigar :(

Can you use a music stand ? Prob cheaper and less vibration. Be careful not to sweat too much on it.

I'm not averse to lashing stuff up: previously had the tablet sat atop a box which was itself perched on a speaker stand. Bit wobbly!

Bought a dog blanket from Wilco last week and it came with a couple of fabric straps with velcro ends. Just now I've threaded these between the Nexus 7 and its case, then wound the straps around the stem. OK temporarily, but will sweat on it....

Lack of space for a floor stand. Handlebar mount would be ideal, pushing the tablet forward out of the sweat zone! 8)

Make one. Cheapo TT clip ons (straight), bit of plywood, zip ties, sticky back velcro, tablet case. Use some or all of those things.

I have the Minoura tph-1. Of the ones I’ve tried, I like this one best. The actual hold is a bit sloppy, but that’s cool for indoors

Funny that, Jmq - I've done loads of digging on Amazon etc and that Minoura is the only half-decent looking & reviewed one I've seen that fits the bill. The instructions for getting it to hold a 7" seem a bit convoluted but I could live with that.

Probably pick one up when Amazon get their own stock again (£30). Cheers.

Mine came with a second set of bits that have to be swapped to fit smaller tablets. I’m using a full size iPad, so didn’t have to do the surgery. It’s actually fairly well made, uses hex stuff to adjust and a knob. Like I said though the tablet fit is a little sloppy, I don’t know if that’s because of a larger tablet and the weight, or just the price to be paid for it being universal.

What drew me to it was how far away from the bars you can get it, so you can actually get your hands around the bars near the stem or other positions besides just the hoods.

Hope it works out for you.

Similar thinking here. Ebay has some dirt cheap mounts (no doubt extremely cr@ppy), that might have done a job of sorts, but they held the tablet overlapping the bars. I need it projected forwards, so the tablet's not interfering with other bar mounted stuff (or the stem), and be well away from the sweat zone!
  • I’ve used one of these types of holders in the past which will go in portrait size.

Plenty on eBay for less than a tenner.
    Link just for info.

Seems odd - what tablet is that (ie. what dimensions)?

    Tacx specs:

In Portrait, my Nexus 7 is far too narrow (114 vs. 182 min) and slightly too tall (200 vs. 197 max) to fit within those adjustment ranges.

Thanks - a gooseneck jobby could work but I'd prefer something more stable (short handlebar mount) so I can tap away without wobblage.

    This is what I got:

    1. Quick release clamp for the stem/bars, £9:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01A6KJDFG/

    2. Tablet holder which screws into the clamp, £8:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01LSDK2CS/

Works fine, and will hold my phone or tablet. The quick release clamp incorporates a pull/rotate 45°/90°assembly, which I don't have need of and the 'play' in it introduces a potential source of wobble in the setup, so it'd be no good on an outdoor bike but OK for static use.
