I'm going but not planning on buying anything....
It's my birthday weekend, so my OH is paying for the tickets and a hotel for the weekend (we're going science museum and nat history too that weekend)

I've been a few times as it's only 45mins away. The last time I went it could be done to death in 2 hours, lots of electric bikes which I have no interest in.

Years ago it used to be combined with the outdoor show and boat show which your ticket covered. Lots of gadjets and equipement for us fettlers to look at, could spend a day there.

Lots of stuff is not for sale anyway and not a lot of bargains.
Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"
  • As rob said i really wouldnt bother, nothing to buy and i think its very poor and mainly seems to be targeted at the new influx of cylists each year then they learn and dont return. Only plus is you can park free in the streets where birmingham is a joke. Canyon only sell direct and even they dont bother going.

It still is as far as the adverts suggest (one ticket three shows). It's actually the Travel Show and the Triathlon Show which are the other two elements. I am going to make a weekend of it down in't Smoke as I dabble in tri now and again, but haven't bought tickets yet as not sure whether to go saturday or sunday. The other day will be galleries, museums etc, so will have to decide logistically how best to do this.
I have been before - it's okay, not as expansive as the NEC event later in the year, but given there's that big City there it makes a weekend away worthwhile.

My wife got me tickets a few years back and I was pretty sceptical, having been to a few in years gone by.

However, I went, and got to listen too and meet Greg LeMond and Stephen Roche, David Millar had been there earlier too. After a quick browse about we were pretty much done, but the talks made it worthwhile.

Looking at the guests this year there are a few decent names, but generally those who 'do the rounds' often.

Oakley normally have an ex display range for sale with some good deals if they have what you fancy. :)

We did a morning and then went on to the Cat Cafe in Shoreditch for my daughter as I recall

  • We used to go to a canoeing one in Birmingham occasionally once good with things being sold off. Last time we went out had nothing of interest to buy. Other than a paddle from a brand I couldn't find in any local retailer that sold a very good paddle for half the price of equivalents from the top paddle bags I never saw anything worth buying. Either full RRP or just rubbish.

I sent to the outdoors show too once at Birmingham but it wasn't really about going to find bargains. You'll see better prices online these days.

I went last year and had some fun. Got a really good deal on a wetsuit for tri and there is plenty of bike bling. Only takes me 45 mins to get there and I'll make it a trip out with the family. There's usually enough stuff to keep the small ones occupied.
  • Couple friends of mine are going so I am going to tag along, I am only around 5 miles from excel though!
