Hey,
So I trying to find out the best indoor bike mounted trainer you can buy. Anyone got any advise? Currently looking at magnetic resistance trainers haven't got enough space to go for a full roller trainer. Anyone advise a good one?
Cheers

A lot depends on what your intended use will be - can you be more specific?0

It's more for winter training while its hard to get out on the roads. Just want a compact trainer which will mount a 700cc wheel and will provide a realistic resistance. This is the issue I'm a bit blinded by all the choice my budgets up to £200.0 -
At that budget, the safe bet is the Tacx 2240, the dark horse is the Elite Novo Force at Halfords.================

Arguably, if you have space for a turbo and your bike, you should be able to get rollers in the same space. If you want a real riding feel, try rollers, your riding will improve no end and you won't just be mindlessly sitting there while you train! Plus, a good set of rollers will be well within your budget and leave you with change.0

Don't agree, sorry. Rollers are fine for warming up pre-race, but not ideal for hard, sustained or structured efforts in my opinion.0 -
+1 for turbo over rollers - if you're doing high intensity stuff you just want to focus on getting the power out rather than staying up.0

Picked 1 up via ebay ( Halfords where the seller) for £160 shipped , saved nearly £40 on the instore price inc. the BC discount.0

AN unanswerable question. Best overall, best direct mount, best bang for your money, best smart trainer, best wheel on, best non-smart, best for hiding away when not needed, best for low noise, best for gradient representation etc etc.
As others have said, rollers are great for your average rider wanting to do threshold stuff, but unless you're very good, full on sprints and virtual reality rides are better done on a turbo.
Have a look at Shane Miller's blog as he tests most turbos from an end user point of view rather than the technical side.

I like rollers as you get more of an overall feel for the bike, and you don't have anything holding you up out on the road. I can do most of the workouts you can do on a turbo on mine0

As you dont appear to want a smart trainer, then a Tacx turbo trainer n a set of rollers could be had for around your budget.
any of the basic magnet trainers from Tacx are perfectly acceptable.0
