Dropper Cable Sticky

The cable on my KS Lev Integra is sticking making the dropper initially hard to operate and then not closing the valve fully meaning it drops again as soon as I put weight on it.

Is it OK to lube the cable?

What should I use as lube?

What's the best way to apply it?

Some basic, 3 in 1 type oil down the cable, but replacing is probably better.
