Xt 950 upgrade brakes

Hi all, I have just joined but would like some help, I have just brought a mountain bike a xt950 I know a few people don't like them but I only paid a little amount for it but had it serviced and now it's as good as new it's perfect for me, my question is what brakes can I put on this type of bike it has disc brakes but I would like to upgrade but need some help in what are good and not so good cheers and thanks for any help.
