Inflatable roof bars for bike box?

I am trying to solve the issue of taking my bike on holidays. It's not the air transport, but what happens to the bike box at the other end. In a smaller, cheaper hire car with two other passengers there isn't room to put the rear seats down.
I wondered whether taking a set of inflatable roof bars with me and securing the solid roof box like that would work.
Does anyone have any experience of doing this? Any advice?

Why not specify either a roof-rack or roof-bars for the hire car? Never had problem even with the budget brands0

Either specify it from the hire company or take a surfboard "softrack". https://www.surfsurfsurf.co.uk/surfboard-softracks/fcs-double-camlock-softrack-for-surfboardsTrail fun - Transition Bandit

Yes, it will work perfect so long as you strap it down properly. Ratchet straps are your thing here.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Or build the bike up and ride and leave the box in left luggage ?0
