Hi All, here's my first road bike.

Use it mainly for commuting but do take it out at the weekends also. (Here it is posing on top of Portsdown Hill  )

It's a Merida frame/fork/seat but with parts taken from an old Bianchi.
From my limited knowledge, it has Ultegra brakes/gears and Mavic wheels.

I'm hoping to take part in a sportive later this year. Hopefully it won't be the worst bike there!

Any recommendations for upgrades? I've got new bars/stem on my shopping list already.

Nice one, apart from the spacer tower.

    The steering tube?

I've been thinking of lowering the stem. Wouldn't want to do any cutting though

Looks nice but would look better with stem lowered, if you can do it and be comfy on it then try it.
Google how to cut the stem if it works with the stem lowered, not a hard job to do.

Nah - you'll be fine. What do you think you'll regret?

Remember - a life lived in fear is a life half lived.

That's not the top of Portsdown Hill. Now stop taking pics of your bike halfway up and crack on and get to the top! ;)

Nice bike, may see you around on it!

    Ha, fair enough!

I only live in Portchester (halfway up the hill). So climb it on almost every ride :D

Yeah, we decide how hard a work out we want and the choose which route up on our way out from Fareham. It's only 10 mins or so into our ride and we then drop down the back (usually Crooked Walk Lane) and then off into the countryside. If we're feeling like taking it easy we'll go up from Cams, if we fancy a beasting then we'll go past the Crem, left up Nyewood and then up to the top on Skew Lane. If you're half way up the Hill then we probably go past your front door!

I live one road away from Nyewood
I usually head straight up there, and up Skew. Great start to a ride, especially when it's cold out.

Got the Ride 400 as my winter/turbo bike. Similar colour scheme. Merida did like fuchsia while they sponsored Lampre.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

Pfft if it doesn't include Farlington avenue or southwick hill road it doesn't count.

Bike looks good though. I'll keep an eye out and give you a wave if I ever see you on it.

    Small update with nicer picture.
Replaced the stem/bars as advised to a compact set up, making it much nicer to ride.

Next up is new tyres (already ordered), the rear currently has squared off quite a bit

    Needs a 17' flipped stem.
