Bold move at that time of year.
  • INRG preview indicates this could be a corker based on the parcours.

They will still be skiing then, so the access roads will have been cleared provided they don't happen to get a storm at the same time.

Even if the snowline has risen a bit by then, the lifts would still be running (their website says the area is open till 25th March). So maybe a bit surprising because of logistics etc. as well as the potential for snow, especially since stage 7 will be a Saturday (the 10th, I think?) when the access roads are normally busy.

Which Sky helper will be winning this in 2018 then? Sebastian Henau? Ian Boswell? Owain Doull?

Boswell has bozzed off to Katusha.

Sergio or Geraint again, unless Froome is banned and G is off for the Giro again, in which case he may do T-A.

    Richie Porte perhaps.

Given how far South it is, it shouldn't be a problem in March, unless they have exceptional weather.
As for being a bold move, they climbed higher in 2013.

No, I'm sure the road will most likely be clear. Just using a ski access road on a Saturday during ski season seems like it would impact the ski area (transfers etc.) quite a lot.
  • Might as well stick these here.

Quite TT-heavy. And looks like Froome and Dumo are riding. Not sure there’s enough hillage for anyone else to challenge either or both of those.
