Shimano 105 right lever not working properly

I've just bought a brand new pair of Shimano 105 st 5700 gear levers (2x10 speed) . The levers are the only piece of the 105 groupset on the bike, the rest is tiagra.
The left shifter works fine but the right shifter only clicks three times when it should click ten times.
Anybody know how to fix this??
Thanks, Cynan

Is this cabled up or in the box ?
If cabled up try releasing the cable as you may have installed it half way down the range of gears ?

Yep, zero the shifter before installation.

Also, ten speed shifters have 9 clicks in total because the zero position is cog 1 on the cassette.
  • Sounds like there wasn’t enough tension on the cable when you fed it through the derailleur. Make sure the barrel adjuster is wound all the way in when you feed cable into the clip. Try and get a small amount of tension on the cable before tightening making sure you have clicked the shifter inner paddle to remove all the wind out the ratchet.
