Shimano CM2000 Camera; anyone got it to work?

I posted this in Road General but no one there seems to have had any luck.

The shimano instructions and website for their ‘sports camera’ are rubbish. I cannot get Ant+ triggering of recording to work despite double checking Ant+ connection, Bluetooth connection, making 6 different profiles and pressing every single button. I’ve had the app in the foreground and the background. I’ve tried powering on from the phone etc.

I’ve had to give up. I have no idea how to get this to work.

Unfortunately I bought it from ProBikeKit who are useful as a marzipan dildo. Have anyone here discovered the secret?

Given the complete lack of support from shimano for this product I wouldn’t recommend it. I wouldn’t recommend ProBikeKit either - they have been completely unhelpful and just told me to read the shimano website, which I’d already told them I had and was rubbish.

I guess no one has then. There might be one over in Road, but I’m awaiting clarification. This has taught me how many ‘reviews’ are actually written without ever having hands on with items. Basically just regurgitated PR letters.
  • Hi.
I got this to work last night by turning on WiFi on the camera 1st.
Then going to phone settings and then WiFi. Do a scan and the phone should pick up a device
SMN_CAM-xxxx (xxxx will be your cameras unique ID).
    On the phone enter password
    shimano_cam (case sensitive).

Now start the Shimano Sports Camera App.
It should ask you to connect.
  • Yes, got it to work - essentially Ken1975 has got it spot on.

Not really had any chance to play with it properly yet.

Must say that I'm a little surprised there's not more on YouTube. After all, the camera has been out for a year now.
There's no such thing as too old.

Just in case anyone stumbles on this thead I finally have it figured out, just took 9 months.

The camera has an automatic-off feature to save battery, which activates if there is no activity for a time period. It is automatically on and does not turn off if you select ANT+Triggering (and probably GPS triggering - haven’t tested).

I stupidly thought activity meant cycling activity and it would remain on if I was active, but it means filming activity. So I thought by cycling it would stay awake whilst it was getting speed info. Nope. Turn it off. This explains why I would sometimes get info. It was about the time between recording.

    To work with ANT+ triggering:
    1) turn off the auto off feature
    2) pair sensors
    3) setup triggers
    4) phone now does *not* need to be connected. The triggers are stored on the camera. You do not need to connect the phone before each ride.
    5) when starting a ride power on but do not click record or it will record everything.
It will now record when sensors enter trigger zones. They could be improved by better averaging. I still often record 1s of film by brief power spike… there is no firmware update still. I’m not sure it will be improved.

Battery usage is much better. Oh, and remember to take the lens cap off. I’ve forgotten three times.
