Fast Steel Bikes With Character

Hello,
I'm wanting to build up a new bike as a backup/trainer bike. I've ridden a few steel bikes, and I love them. I have a surly straggler that in its own way rides better than my 2015 Trek Emonda at times. I'm thinking lightweight steel, carbon fork, and I'll upgrade to a modern 10/11 speed groupset if the bike is setup in 9 as is. I like most of you don't have the money for a steel superbike like a speedvagen. I'm thinking Jamis Eclipse, Gunnar Roadie, Lemond Zurich.

Genesis Equilibrium, The Light Blue Wolfson, Fairlight Strael, Soma Smoothie are some others off top of my head. Also can get 2017 Genesis on clearance.
