Recent Canyon experience?

Does anyone have any recent experiences dealing with Canyon?
Aware that they had some pretty significant issues with delivery times last year - have they sorted themselves out? How about in cases where there is some issue with the bike that needs an exchange?
Very keen on the look of their bikes but heard a lot of bad press!
Thanks!

The delivery issues should be sorted now. Biggest problems were back in 2015.
They are good bikes but make sure you shop around as they aren't the value for money they used to be.0 -
Thanks, that's encouraging.
In terms of value for money, also looking at the Giant TCR series which seems to be a lot of bike for the cost.0 -
Take a look at Rose bikes. They seem to get good reviews all round re bikes, VFM, delivery and customer service. I have a Canyon Ultimate CF and had very good service from them when I bought but TBH I would be looking very closely at Rose and other brands for the next bike.0

Yes. They sent me some DT Swiss wheels... one with 622 rim tape, one with 559. Urgh.
Awaiting customer service response.0 -
I bought my Endurace 9.0 Di2 CF from Canyon in June and although in the past they had super long delays etc my bike came in less than a week. No issues, perfect condition etc. I wanted a different stem length so had to order the bike as standard then request new stem then send old one back. No problem as such just a bit of a faff as can't customize at all on point of order, you have to have bike as advertised.
Anyway, love my bike, really happy with it and the spec I got for the money way better than anything else so it worked for me.0 -
Bought my Ultimate CF 9.0 in 2014 in readiness for the Etape du Tour. No problems with delivery, despite others encountering problems at the time. Love the bike. Word of caution: sourcing replacement headset bearing last summer from the UK was impossible. Contacted Canyon customer services who sold me some in an efficient manner but they were expensive.0

I bought my 2x XL Aeroad 8.0 Disc in October, ordered it on Thursday evening and it was delivered on Monday morning to Norfolk, England.
I got it in their sale so it had £800 off, bargain for me.
The bike was really easy to put together, infant all you have to do is put the front wheel in, seat on and bars onto the stem. Then set the riding position up.
When you go on their website it tells you how long the delivery is going to take.0 -
Hmm. After doing a bit more research on their website I am not filled with confidence. The listed weights of a number of the bikes are obviously wrong (e.g. SL models having a heavier frame, wheelset and groupset than the SLX model but being listed as 200 grams lighter overall).
Not sure how they expect people to have the confidence to spend significant amounts of cash via distance selling if the data they are advertising is incorrect - you would think for a sales model where you cannot see or test the bike in advance attention to detail on the website would be pretty important.0 -

I’ve had 3 canyons - I’d find it difficult to buy from another manufacturer now as all 3 have been superb and I’ve not had a single problem.
It does look like they’ve got the weights wrong though. Get in touch with support on live chat - I’m sure they’ll have the answers you need.0 -
I’m afraid the service is as poor as ever.
Despite the negative reviews I attempted to buy a bike from the Canyon website. This was to be a present for my partner so I checked when the ‘in-stock’ bike would be delivered via the online chat before I ordered. I was told it would be dispatched the following week and this was confirmed in the order e-mail.
Today was the last day of the dispatch window so (after an hours wait) I got through on the online chat and asked when to expect delivery. I was told the bike won’t be dispatched for another full month as they are doing a stock-take.
I still have no official confirmation that the bike is going to be late. I’m just with the money gone from my account, no bike for my girlfriend’s birthday and the feeling that I have been blatantly lied to by Canyon.
The value for money is no longer good enough to accept this poor level of customer service.0 -

Well Sloppy, I guess you are not a member of the Diplomatic Service, why don't you just tell the guy that he is a liar.0 -
I believe the Canyon frames are still regularly turning up problems with cracking. The customer service isn’t great when they do experience issues either.0

My recent experience with them (june) was very good, as was a couple of minor issues I had which was cleared up without any fuss.
Fantastic bike, best I've had by a long shot.
I've also had a rose and while it was good...the canyon is a class above in my opinion.0 -
Had a problem with a damaged bike during delivery...initially coms were v poor take 48hours for email reply but now I am getting their with the promise of some free accessories as an apology..we will see. Bike itself tho is gr8, canyons number is 02085496001...if I had known this things earlier things would have been better as the guys I've spoken to are v helpful.0

I wish I could echo the previous good experiences with Canyon as that's not my experience at all. I ordered an Ultimate CF SLX 8.0 Di2 on September 9 and received an email confirming it would be sent between September 10–14. I'm going on a cycling holiday abroad at the end of October, so thought six weeks would be adequate to ensure the bike arrived in time.
However, on September 15 the tracking link on the email showed my ordered bike hadn't been dispatched within the promised window, so I emailed Canyon. I waited two days for a reply, but it never came, so I tracked down the UK rep, who took another couple of days to reply to my enquiry. Stating that he was "looking into your order now", he promised that he would be "personally monitoring your order to ensure you get on the road as soon as possible. As a rider myself, I know the excitement of receiving a new bike and want for you to be out riding."
I hoped these promises were not hollow words. Later that day I got another email stating that the UK reps "can't see any reason why your bike is being delayed".
A further five days later, I sent another reminder to Canyon UK, as I'd heard nothing in the interim. It was now September 25. A few hours later, I got a reply that stated "I've escalated your case to the highest level of order management so that I get a reply ASAP."
The next day an email arrived, not from Canyon's UK rep, but from Canyon in Germany saying that my order had been delayed. The new dispatch date was October 1–5, but when that shipping window arrived today, I received yet another automated email from Canyon in Germany, announcing yet another delay in the shipping of my new bike. It is now promised for October 22–26, which is when I'll be on the cycling holiday for which I bought it.
So my advice is tread carefully with Canyon. Its bikes are well priced and impressively specced on paper, but in practice not much use if they don't turn up for the best part of two months after they're ordered.0 -
It is a lottery buying over the internet. I purchased a bike last week of August. The money did leave my account straight away, it was not there to be drawn on and was showing as payment being taken. My bike was in my opinion an absolute bargain. An awful lot of bike for what I paid for it. I could have purchased a similar bike from my LBS, but it would have cost me a lot more.
My bike was shipped on the last day of the shipping window and delivered 2 days later. No damage at all to the box or the frame. Bike was put together and taken for a ride within an hour, noticed it had a flat DI2 battery so had to charge. Apart from that I'm a very happy customer.
I do accept that a bike purchase is a large layout, but when buying from the internet I made myself aware of the pitfalls. Then it was a case of weighing up the risk against the price. For me personally, I'm lucky that I have other bikes, so any issues encountered wouldn't too much of a problem. No hurry to get on the bike other than excitement of having a new toy.
I'd buy from Canyon again, but only because I can be without a bike for a period of time. If I was time constrained I'd probably think the risk of late delivery or damaged goods was too high and look elsewhere. I've always purchased my bikes via the LBS (normally 2 bikes per year), but for some reason prices have gone silly on the bikes I like, Madone and Systemsix I was looking at. Both were £7k, whereas the Aeroad I purchased was £3200. Its an older model, going to be less aero, but still £3.5k difference is a lot.
Been out on the bike a handful of times and very happy.0
