Balaclava for warm air breathing

folks - new to winter cycling. I tried the cold avenger today and it's a typical balaclava with holes in front of the nose but this let cold air through. I used to have upper respiratory issues in the past so need warmed up air to bike. Is there a balaclava that does this and allows you breathe room temperature air? Anything with simply holes in front of the nose won't cut it for me

I can't see anything that would work on really cold days. Can you just wait til it's a bit milder ? Meant to be warmer by Wednesday.0

Would a buff be better? Draw it up until it covers your nose - all that hot air from your mouth will keep things nice and toasty. I tend to find it a bit stifling when I do that on really cold days though
Separate skullcap to keep your head warm0 -
the downsideI findto wearing a buff over my nost is then my glasses mist up ??? .. I guess the hot moist air goes up right on to them ..... inevitably this freezes then you cant see at all
I havnt found a solution if I wear a buff I cant wear glasses think I prefer the wrapaound plastic keeping the wind of my eyeballs this time of year0 -
If it simply an air thing and not a cold face thing how about one of those pollution mask things?

You could try wearing a transparent plastic bag over your head to keep you from breathing cold air whilst still retaining vision........................or perhaps notFFS! Harden up and grow a pair0

definately perhaps not ... that will condensate up in no time and you will lose vision ..... you need to sellotape the bag around your mouth and nose0 -

There are balaclavas which have a piece covering the nose with just a downwards facing opening one holes. Designed to keep you warm but allow your breath out. Can't remember the make. High end mountaineering balaclava.

This is what you are after:

It's quite common in scandinavia for skiers to use masks during training, they are quite commonly available the one above is just an example. Personally I can't ride with anything over my mouth or nose due to the condensation, it just feels horrible after a couple of minutes.0 -
Thing is xslbmlqo, you shouldn't be breathing through your nose in any case, a buff over your mouth should be sufficient. Covering the nose only exacerbates issues with nasal mucus, which is unavoidable especially when it's cold. I was out today, 0C-1C and the buff 'over mouth' could even be considered toasty.0

That's the compromise I use when it's cold. Polartec fleece Buff up over my mouth. Taking it easy I can breathe through my nose. Once I'm warmed up and needing more air I start breathing through my mouth. OK, the buff gets a bit damp, but it also warms the incoming air a bit.
If it's properly freezing you arrive with a proper hard man collection of frost / icicles.
Buff over your nose definitely doesn't work with glasses in the cold0 -

Exactly what I do for the same reasons as the op wants.
I get greeted as the 'masked robber' when I turn up for club runs on cold mornings but it does the trick.
Nasal spray is also good.0
