The bike box connundrum

I'm talking about the box that my bike came in. I've been thinking of ditching it, since it's quite big and is taking up space in the garage. I was only keeping it for say if the bike needed to be sent back, that's not going to happen now since a) I've had the bike for about a year and a half so if anything was going to go wrong it probably would have done so already, and b) the company has gone bust now anyway!
The only thing I think I could need it for is if I ever want to sell it, but I'm not sure if that will ever happen, and I could just specify that it needs to be collected.
What do you think? Shall I dump it?

If you do ever want to sell it, you can often pick them up for free at your LBS or round the back of Halfords if you have one one nearby...0

Do you have rafters? If so, flatten it, put it in the rafters, use it to store light items on.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

No LBS, they all closed down, but we do have a Halfords. Thanks, I'll consider that.bendertherobot wrote:Do you have rafters? If so, flatten it, put it in the rafters, use it to store light items on.
That's a good idea. I didn't think of that. Thanks.0 -
Or if you have a bike bag for travelling cut the sides of the cardboard box and slide them into the bike bag as extra protection. You'll probably have to trim them to fit.0

Well I tied putting it into the roof space of the garage, but it's no good. It's just far too big. I'm going to throw it out. But I can't put it in the recycling bin atm, as it's already full up with over stuff (including packaging that was in the box).Navrig2 wrote:Or if you have a bike bag for travelling cut the sides of the cardboard box and slide them into the bike bag as extra protection. I don't have a bike bag. I don't really travel with my bike, except for day trips.0 -
It's a cardboard box - I can't believe you have kept it for 18 months then have to ask a bunch of people whether to chuck it out or not.
Take to the recycling place and get rid of.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

If you chop it up into little bits you can use it as a very good medium for a wormery.

I use mine as a protector for my (estate) car boot when transporting my MTB. Keeps the mud off the car.0

Put it on your local Facebook "free or wanted" page. Stick it up Friday night as free to collect and it'll be gone over the weekend. Someone out there will be after one and you'd probably be doing someone a favour too.Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...0

Use it to wrap a really small yet really heavy Christmas present - something like a breeze block.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

It's too late. I already started taking it apart. I doubt there'd be any takers round here anyway.0
-
You started taking it apart? It's only a box. Not the Taj Mahal.
If you flatten it you'll be able to use it as somr cushioning in the garage when you're trying to fit mudguards on ;-)0 -
It might as well be, it's big enough.
It won't fit in the bin unless I dismantle it.0 -

Good point well presented that man.
Best stick it in a shopping trolley and set fire to it then.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am
