Rim brakes for a new build

Building up a new bike for commuting duties, nothing fancy just SRAM Apex groupset. At the moment though I'm lacking brakes which I have found in the past a desirable feature on a bike.
So any recommendations of rim long drop 57mm rim brakes? So far Its between some Tektro R359's and Miche Performance but I'm open to other options

Shimano R650's if you can stretch to them. I had the Miche but saw a pair of 650's for sale on this very forum at a good price.
Great brakes; much better than the Miche.0 -
I think how good they work will depend on matching the pull ratio of the groupset see here:

I switched from Shimano BR R451 to Tektro TRP957 on my Kinesis GFTi and the difference is pretty substantial. Not only in build quality but the 'feel' when braking.
I still have 451's on my winter Kinesis T3 and you can feel there is quite a large amount of 'flex' in the arms in comparison to the 957s. I ought to have them on my winter bike and will get some because they really are worth paying the extra for (which is also significant, but what price do you put on confidence and stopping power?)0 -
I had long drop Tektro R730 brakes on my Boardman Road Comp with SRAM Apex shifters.
I was not happy with the performance and tried various different brake blocks.
Eventually I replaced them with Shimano R650.
Definitely better. They now perform as well as the short drop brakes on my other bike.0 -
What's the budget? Finding cheap brakes don't stop you is not good (I know pad/rim surface etc make a difference). So the classic Shimano R650 or the lovely Velo Orange grand Cru would be my choice

When I converted my Moda from flat bar to Sram Rival STIs I had to change the brakes from Avid Single Digits to some long drop and chose the Tektro R559s because I needed more than 57mm. The standard pads were rubbish but with some Koolstop black/red they are great and I can tell no difference between the braking on that bike compared to my best bike. I know they are a different version to what you need but I would imagine the performance would be very similar. HTHVaaru Titanium Sram Red eTap

Budgets around the £50 mark for them, I've spotted a couple of used sets of R650's online, if the logo offends with the SRAM gear some acetone can solve that anyway. They seem so far the best bet0
