Black Friday bug.
Pushed the button on a Kinesis Aithein frameset in a 56cm. and Kinesis carbon seatpost, plan for the build is a 105 groupset in silver, Ritchey stem (from parts bin).
Bars and wheels still to be advised, but trying to do it on a budget....
Will post photos later - photobucket is no longer playing the game...

Dice!!
Crappy phone pic. and just a little progress.
Steerer tube cut - still to be finalised.
Seat post inserted and Fizik Aliante saddle (from parts bin) fitted.0 -
The dice are snazzy.
Be aware that the paint, while not being fragile (i.e won't chip), does scratch easily so make sure you helitape the frame where the cables rub.
Enjoy the bike - mine was the one with the guards at the end of the above thread. Sold it last week as I bought a Colnago and moved my other carbon bike to winter duties.
It's a cracking fun bike to ride. Enjoy0 -
Cheers Shirley.
All the reports read on it are pretty good so looking forward to it.
I was looking for some green ( ) cable outer. I can get Shimano gear outer easily enough in green but having difficulty tracking down a Shimano brake cable outer as easily. Anyone got any ideas?
I'd like them both to be Shimano and then there will be a chance that they will be the same shade of green0 -
Silver groupset????
This is begging for a all black 105 5800 groupset on it.
as for cables, try Jagwire, I have used them before and they are fine, and are as good if not better than Shimano, plus come in green.

Now you've put me in a quandary...with your talk of black groupset, and this photo
reinforces what you are saying...
I also purchased some Jagwires, so hoping the colour ties in with the logos on the frame.
I do have a silver groupset available though.....0 -
So, I tried a silver chainset in.....
I'm now thinking black, black, black...0 -

Got wheels sorted out - some Fulcrum Quattro's

Wheels on - starting to look more like a bike now...

Getting there...
Groupset is the new Ultegra R8000 - Merlin had 10% off so it would have been rude not to; bars are Ritchey Comp Logic II, stem is a 110mm. Ritchey Comp one I had in the parts bin
Flash picks out the colour...
Think I might have to put the FB cable inside the gear cables??0 -
Just need to check lever heights and set up and then I'll tape the bars up.

A picture, or five, in daylight....
Bars still to be taped. Will check set up in turbo later, then tape up as required.0 -
I can’t see the images (other than the few near the start) is there something I’m doing wrong? It’s just a box with the word ‘image’ in it.
Thanks.0 -

Not just you. If OP is sharing through Google Photos, you have to put the images in a public album.0 -

I added all the photos to a shared album, so I think you should be able to see them now.
Let me know if not...0 -
Still the same for me mate.0

That’s better. If you copy and paste the BBCode into your reply then the images will show.0

The frame may be long and low, but you have neutralised that with your set-up.0

I had a first run on this on Sunday. Very nice, pretty solid at the rear, and reasonably light.

Right fellow Aithein owners,
I'm having issues with the BB - not even 100 miles on it.
I had the first run on it - no issues.
Next run - 30 miles and a creak for the last 3 miles or so.
Nipped it up with the BB press and another run of 28 miles - creaking after ~20 miles.
Removed BB, greased the cups and then re-installed.
Out for 30 miles this evening and creaking from about mile 5 onward all night.
Any help / assistance gratefully received.
Cheers,
D0 -
Don't be so sure it's the bottom bracket. I had a similar experience with my Caad 12. I just jumped on the bandwagon and started blaming bb30. It turned out to be the rear quick release. Once I'd greased that properly and made it good and tight the creak was gone. There are a whole load of other things that might be creaking like your seatpost for instance but if it's happening when you're out of the saddle then your rear quick release or even stem, headset and bars might be worth a look if you haven't done that already.0

Highly likely that something else is causing the creaking, I have been convinced my BB was creaking before only to find it was the Bars/Stem/headset that needed stripping and re-torquing0 -

I have one bike that for whatever reason the water bottle screws squeak. I found Teflon plumbers tape on the screws works.0
