Sweep required for comfortable flat handlebar

Currently I am using a flat bar on a MTB for occasional long rides on tow paths.
I find it really uncomfortable after a short distance because the bar is wider than shoulder width so instead of my wrists being straight when holding the bar, I have to twist them or ride with my elbows sticking out.
My theory is when the bar is wider than shoulder width it should sweep towards the rider because your arm moves in an arc as your hands move further apart. The sweep of the bar needs to follow that arc.
There must be a trigonometry formula that can tell me the degree of sweep I need for a given bar width and shoulder width.

Saw a bit off each end. Repeat until comfy. MTB handlebars can be ridiculously wide0
