Replacing gear cables in SRAM hydraulic

I have a set of SRAM Force 22 hydraulic shifters on which I need to replace the gear cable inners (I'm swapping all components to new frame). Last time I needed to replace the gear cable inners on a set of Force 22 mechanical shifters, I couldn't get the new cable inners to feed through the levers into the cable outer until I untaped the bars and removed the cable outer from where it houses in the lever body. Is it equally difficult to replace the cable inners in the hydraulic shifters - i.e. if I have to untape the bars then I will buy some new handlebar tape as well...

With most brands of tape you can unwind the tape as far as the shifters, removing them if necessary, work on them and then reinstall the tape. Even if you have to completely remove the tape from the bars it is seldom damaged enough to render it un-reuseable.
