SRAM Disc Compatibility
Hello All,
Long time reader, first time poster - please excuse my inexperience!
Tl:dr Is vintage 2010 sram red compatible with mechanical disc brakes?
I run a cycling program at the school in which I work, and we are CONSTANTLY fighting for resources low-income, philadelphia, etc. etc.
I was recently gifted a used SRAM RED Gruppo circa 2010 (yaw front, short cage rear). I also was given an overstock disc cyclocross frame by a LBS. I would love to build a kick-ass disc equipped (Avid Mechanical) do-anything bike with the SRAM group, as an award for one of the seniors who helped build the program. My question - can I use the SRAM RED brifters with more recent mechanical disc brakes?
Would love any guidance/hacks!
Cheers!

should be ok, from that time the i think sram, campag and shimano cable pull ratios were similar, avid mechanical worked fine with old levers when i used it
newer shimano pull ratio is different, mixing 'new-shimano'' compatible brakes with old levers may need some checking to see if it'll be okmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0
