Bought a bike with a Giant PA-2 Wheel Set last week and I was wondering if they are any good.

Not sure whether I will ride with them or just put some Fulcrums on first as last.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Heavy. Bombproof.
  • Well, i would go for a Fulcrum wheel set. I have those wheels myself and i use them during the winter days. In better wheater conditions i always use my Fulcrum wheel set. My Fulcrums are Lighter and stiffer, wich isn't very difficult since the Giant wheels are very heavy.

Wanted to add my two cents in case anyone comes across this thread again, as I have clicked on it about 5 times now from a Google search, I realise that it's too late for the OP

I've rode them for about 10,000km now on a Propel and they have been a disaster for me. As above they are heavy and I found mounting tyres to be difficult.

The main issue is the cheap components and build quality - my spokes started creaking and pinging (front & back) about 5,000km in and despite trying everything including my mechanic basically rebuilding my wheel it just keeps coming back. This seems to be a fairly common problem that I have seen mentioned on user groups and forums.

Definitely the first upgrade I would recommend for a Giant bike if they come with these wheels is a new wheelset, or else if you know a specialist wheel builder get them to look at them and upgrade where necessary. Might end up being a winter wheel.

They're tubeless ready which combined with their durability makes them ideal for winter duty.
