Tacx Flux Help

Hi,

Recently purchased a Flux, my 1st trainer. On the whole I’m loving it but I have a few issues that I’m not sure if it’s just how trainers are or if I have a problem.

I’m using it with the Sufferfest and Bluetooth via my iPad. I also calibrate every ride using the utility app. I’m not using ERG mode as the Sufferfest doesn’t support yet through Bluetooth.

The main issues are that the cadence and power are really slow to react to changes, like 4 seconds slow.

This makes adjusting to 10 second intervals for sprints etc really tricky as you either have to start early to hit the numbers when the interval starts or risk not getting the full interval in.

It’s also hard to hold a consistent cadence even though I don’t think I’m speeding up or slowing down etc.

Is this just how trainers are?

Thanks
Neil

I went through 2 fluxs due to 1 developing a loud ticking whilst pedaling and the shop replacement creaking like an old floor board when pedaled immediately after it was set up, It was returned that day and refunded...
Anyway i also found the cadance to be slow or wildly inacurate at slower cadence,It seemed better at higher cadences,I started using the stages PM for cadance, now as I use a different trainer and bike I'm using a powertap cadance sensor as its blue tooth and ant+ whereas the garmin in only ant+.

    Hi,

That's normal. Trainers take a little time to react. More expensive ones tend to be a bit quicker. You wouldn't like it if it changed instantaneously as that would be like hitting a wall with a big power change.
It’s also hard to hold a consistent cadence even though I don’t think I’m speeding up or slowing down etc.
Me too on my trainer! It's harder than you think isn't it. You won't notice out on the road as you won't be continuously seeing your cadence numbers due to looking where you are going.

You will get used to it.

The cadence measurement has been out on both of the flux I have owned. Mainly due to its calculated cadence rather than an actual measurement at the cranks.

Power reading taking 4 seconds will just be the reaction time of the trainer or even the setting you have it on (3 sec power or instant)
