Identifying a headset bearing
I have a Planet X Maratona that I built up.
I bought the headset from Planet X - it was a NECO 373M-B52 Tapered Headset / Black / 15mm.
The bike spec says it use an FSA-C 40 headset but that seems to cover a variety of models.
During some routine bike fiddling I saw that the lower headset bearing was quite rusty.
I cleaned and greased but decided it was a good idea to source a replacement for the future.
Of course Px were no help and don't sell the headset any more.
The bearing appears to be stamped with the following 6130 8Hxø51.8xø40x45°x45°
I had a look on the Neco website and the lower bearing is described as OD51.8×45°x45°
Can anyone help in identifying a replacement?

These are the closest I can find. Yours says it has an OD of 51.8. These are 51.9 and 52 respectively. angles are right.0 -
Googling the frame it looks like you need a IS52/40 bearing.

Dannbodge - if the picture of the bearing on https://www.edgesportsuk.com/store/comp ... 52-40.html
Is correct then that’s not the right one.
The vertical section of my bearing outer is smaller - about 4mm I’d say - so the angled bit is longer. Maybe I need to take it out again and have another look.0 -

This is the bearing in question. It is 8mm deep and the 45° chamfer starts 4mm from the base.0 -
don't make the mistake of assuming the schematic diagram reflects actual proportions, for instance look at the clear disparity on the inner race chamfer between image and schematic on this one https://www.edgesportsuk.com/store/comp ... -a-86.html
even if the chamfer were not starting as deep as on your image, if id/od, height and angle are correct it will still fit and only slightly increase the height, a mm of so isn't a big dealmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Sungod - I see what you mean - the two schematic diagrams are identical!!!0
