Hi, looking for some advice. Looking to get something fairly cheap for my other half so we can go out at weekends with our toddler (on a bike seat). Will be sticking to woodland tracks, local bridal ways and gravel tracks. I remembered reading that the trott was unbeatable value for money. I see that it is now discontinued with eBay options listed above the original asking price. She is 5"2 so would be on cusp of xs/s size wise. What is likely to be the next best option?

Don't constrain yourself to a 'womens' bike, if it fits, it fits, and changing a saddle or pair of grips isnt expensive.

As XS is a rare size you may still find some 2017 models knocking around cheap they can't sell if you phone around a bit.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • Not too worried re women specific. Just want a bike that is relatively light and comfortable for the type of riding we'll be doing. For example I have a voodoo bizango. I had assumed due to her size a 27.5" might be better. However the hoodoo for example simply does not come In a small enough size for her.

I was looking at the Trott too, but couldn't find it anywhere. We settled in the end to get her a Diamondback Myers 2.0, which on Merlin was reduced from £1000 down to £500 as it was only the 15" frame left, which was perfect for my gf. Shop the smaller sizes and you'll find some bargains eventually as shops tend to struggle to get rid of the really small sizes. The DB has amazing spec for the price so could be worth a look.

Wheel size doesn't directly affect frame size and whether it fits, but yes if she needs an XS they tend not to make them that small due to the space needed for the front wheel.
