Great job, well done. I think a black bottle cage would look better, white looks a bit cheap.

Managed to get this finished at the weekend.

Cut the steerer down at work and finished the top so it was 100% square.

    Then started on the cabling:

The wrapped the bars. Nothing fancy just Wiggle's Lifeline Performance tape.
Feels really nice with the gel and is really grippy.

And then got the gears indexed, speed and cadence sensor fitted and paint protection film put everywhere that a cable touches (or comes close) and where stones are likely to hit.

    And we're done.

Is it just the picture or are the bars at a funny angle?

Thanks. I'm starting to get the hang of it now.

Probably a bit of both, They may need pointing down a bit more.

I'm yet to sort out the position properly.
  • That is so impressive so I'm going to sound like a party pooper - why didn't you fill the dent underneath the main tube bottle cage before you painted it? I'll get me coat.....

Honestly I don't know why I didn't. I could say laziness but with all the other work that's not quite right

    Battle scar?
  • Well it's a very minor point and doesn't detract from the workmanship which is excellent. 8)
  • Some good work there, looks great!

To finish up this weekend I gave the bike a coat of ceramic sealant, set my position up properly (Saddle still needs tipping down a bit) and managed to snap some decent (ish) pictures outside

Can only echo the other comments so far, what a cracking job. My beloved Allez needs this level of TLC, you may just have inspired me to do so. Well done, looks too nice for a winter hack now 8)

I think this is the bike of the year. Its not flashy but its a cracking build you've done there, I have a soft spot for allez's (?) Great bikes and under-rated. Probably as much bike as most people really need too....

Ended up fitting my Ksyrium Elites and mudguards to make commuting better:

Then came across a good deal on an Ultegra 6800 groupset, so bought that and sold the Tiagra on.

Did a few hundred miles in that configuration and now the frameset is up for sale.
