Classic CN of late: like a fox in the hen house, ruffling feathers all around...
Nibali is clearly a great competitor- but no one else think this is rich coming from the guy that's not beaten the best for his GT victories?

It's just Nibali being Nibali. He's always been a bit of a sh1tstiirer making contentious comments. But he's only ever once won a race that either Froome or Contador also finished (2013 Tirreno).

He's had a great career and it's not over, but he's the Djokovic (maybe even the Murray) to Contador/Froome's Federer and Nadal

Ultimately, potential top ten riders don't only ride as domestiques just for money, they also ride for those they think will win.

Is this his opening salvo to influence the shape of the 2018 Tour route? If they revert to the 100km of ITT like 2012 it'll attract the likes of Dumoulin; if it's a "classic" Tour route with medium amount of TTs and all the usual long steady climbs, then the strong teams of Sky (Froome) and Movistar (Quintana/Landa)will be raring to go - and his Nibs won't get a look in.
His only hope is that the Tour route is an all out attempt to shake things up - and that he can cash in on the chaos.

It's a bit late now. They will have finalised the route months ago.

Well, obviously it was my initial mistake... for a multitude of reasons I'm about 2 months out of sync with this year.

Nibali is a mediocre, idiot, over achiever, with a very bad personality.

1st, all his wins are after better people crashed out.

2nd bidon throws, posing in white kinght for anti doping while his Astana team mates get caught on EPO 24/7, hanging on to cars while riding for victory, holding on to cars at WC, beaten by Froome everytime except a lucky TA 2013

and he still has the guts to say this :D what an imbecile.

Don't worry about it. I'm about two years (decades possibly) out of synch with the year this month.

No. I don't like him but he's a damn good rider. A better all-round cyclist than Froome as well.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

well, he's a weaker GC rider, weaker climber and weaker TTer than Froome.
He is a better one day / classics style rider than Froome though.
Better all round? Depends on where you place the balance.....

He is a very good rider mind, but his GT palmares flatters him somewhat, though you can only beat those who also manage to finish.

Can you be both mediocre and an over achiever?

to be fair I agree with most of the rest of the post...
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence
