I am planning to build up a Dolan TC1 frameset for use on the track. My crankset of choice is a Stronglight track 2000 with the recommended 107 mm bottom bracket for a 42mm chainline. I know that Dolan have had problems with other models, noticeably the Pre Cursa with cranks hitting the chain stay for this length of BB. Has this problem been solved? Has anyone any advice on the TC1 please?

Have you checked with Dolan themselves? They may know.

  • Thank you. Dolan recommend Sugino. At the moment I am looking for a cheaper alternative.

Not aware of any chainline issues with the TC1. There were issues with some earlier versions of the Precursa as you say, but that was a few years ago now.

You don't say which Sugino chainset Dolan has recommended. Did they recommend it because, generally speaking, Sugino make pretty good chainsets, or did they recommend it because nothing else is compatible? I'm guessing the former..
