Setting sag

Just a quick question,I'm new to servicing my bike so i'll probably sound thick but do you set sag on front suspension forks if they're metal coil springs and not air ? I have suntour xcm which is the default that came on voodoo bantu

    Yes, they should have a preload knob.

  • yeh it has , so i just adjust it one way or the other and see whats best for me,is it to do with weight? heavier you are stiffer the suspension? thanks

    Sort of, preload doesn't change how stiff the spring is, it just changes the preload so that the static riding position is in the right part of the travel. The only way to make a spring stiffer is to change it.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • Ok i get it now, thanks for the advice. Done a lot of googling but it can be a bit of a minefield
