Yes - signed up in a moment of madness a few weeks ago. Did the Yorkshire Struggle Dales earlier this year and that was tough ! Think this one will break me.

Is it me or is there an 'Arms Race' with regards to Sportives? Higher, longer, tougher...when will this madness end?!

This should be moved to the "Tours, Routes, Audaxes & Organised rides" section.

(It's bad enough having to ride with and spend the day with a bunch of sportive riders let alone for 200 miles).

I have already posted this as above, but not had much response. I'm tempted, think it'll be touch and go to complete though.

Your average sportive rider won't get 'round this one.

why not throw some grit sand down ya shorts too while you're at it...........make it memorable.

    It's getting daft out there.

There must be plenty of riders around that can cope with that challenge. Ok, not your 'average' sportive rider but riders with decent climbing ability and good endurance. Most sportives I find, are relatively 'easy' to complete by pretty fit experienced riders. Yes you find them tough but find a way of getting to the finish, barring mechanicals and injury. The thing that makes this event tougher is the time limit.
I've done the FW, Struggle, White rose classic and others that were all tough but I never doubted that I would finish ok. The reason I'm tempted by this event IS the element of doubt that I'll be able to do it in the allowed time. CHALLENGE.

I just can't see the attraction. If you are fit you should be able to get around it OK, it just becomes an exercise in pacing and fuelling. Dull.

Yep I can see why a lot of people think that way and if so it's not for you. But that's what endurance events are about. There are weird people like me that like to see how far they can push themselves. I can't keep up with half of my club mates on 'fast' rides but I have the ability (and experience) to keep going when fatigue kicks in.
You are spot on though, it is very much about pacing and fuelling. :D

Given it takes in Rosedale chminey, that alone will separate the wheat from the chaff !

Anyone strong enough to enter this is likely to find the Chimney - at only 60 miles completed - fairly easy. Although it's steep, it is so for a short distance only. Caper Hill (which they call 'Glaisdale Horror' - why?) is tougher IMO. Doing Park Rash at 150 miles in will be properly taxing though, never mind the steep section at the bottom of the climb over Grinton Moor at 175 covered.

The biggest issue with Grinton Moor is dodging tank shells.
