No, and yes.
A competitive XC bike will be light, short travel and not ideally suited to rough and tumble down hill work, they can do they downhill and moderate jumps/drops but it will always be a compromise.
The Trigger is too heavy to be a competitive XC bike (its even a bit heavy for a trail bike), I'd be looking at something like the Scott Spark (the 910 can be found just over and the 920 just under that budget) Cannondale Scalpel (the cheapest '4' model is within budget) if you want to race XC and still have a bike that can do some hooning.
Or perhaps get two bikes, a racey hardail for the racing and a preloved longer travel bike for the jumps and drops?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Definitely Scott, good mix of XC and trail ability.0

You could just about fit a Specialized Epic Carbon in for £3k. I take mine to trail centres and use it for XC racing.
