Picked up one of these for £85 and wasn't impressed overall so it went back a couple of weeks later.

Issues i had:

Claims you can have 4 lines of data per screen, well yes technically you can but you sure as s*** wont be able to read them when cycling, 3 lines were ok on an easy ride but if you were going for it only 2 lines would be big enough.

Unit kept dropping the connection with my HRM, I do have issues with HRMs literally connecting to me (in that they can't pick up a heartbeat) but this was between the HRM and unit.

Didn't get turn by turn navigation regardless of the file type used.

Overall the build quality was good enough to have me consider buying the bigger Lezyne Super, but the lack of turn by turn nav would be the stopper, if i had the same issues with the Super.

  • I've not used the navigation much on my Super, but to get turn by turn, I had to create the route on http://www.lezyne.com/gpsroot/gps_routes-navigation.php or on the Lezyne Ally V2 app for Android.

If I uploaded a route from say Strava routes, I didn't get turn by turn.

The most recent firmware http://www.lezyne.com/support-gps.php allowed me to increase the Super's number of field to up to 8 IIRC, I increased from standard 4 to 5 and it's very readable, even when not wearing my non-cycling glasses.

The Bluetooth pairing between my Super and Polar H7 is brilliant, far better than Strava or Ghostracer on my Nexus 7 2013 tablet, the same goes for pairing with my Lidl (re-badged Wahoo) Bluetooth cadence sensor. Near instant as soon as Super is turned on and I spin the pedals.

  • I am using the Super GPS too and I really like it. Like NitrousOxide said, the turn by turn navigation works when you use the Lezyne route planner. I used it once on an unknown route and did not take any wrong turn...it isn't optimal because it is just breadcrump navigation but still helpful. Connection to 4iiii powermeter, Polar H7 HRM and Sigma speed sensor works well. 8 field display is readable without problems. And battery lifetime is good too :D I really can recommend the device, for 140€ you can't get anything better I think.

Yes they state that the turn by turn will not work with .gpx files only .tcx I was aware of that but still didn't work. Not sure why. Happy to use the lezyne site to route build.

Looking at picking up the super from the Gatwick warehouse, perhaps tomorrow or Wednesday. Like i said the build quality was good just the (perhaps faulty) mini unit put me off abit, but it was going back due to the size anyway.

Good to know that the super connects to the 4iii as thats the model i am also looking at getting possibly next year.

i had mini one also, sent it back as soon as turned it on, the numbers are tiny, and i mean tiny. OK, so this is a small computer, but not worth the money when it is that small that you can't read it

Well turns out the Super is no better for the following reasons:

Still drops connection to HRM. The HRM works when connected to phone without issue (once its found my heart)

Still dont get turn by turn nav, despite using .tcx file and app running on phone, route shows on screen and i can follow it but i don't get notifications on the other screens.

Won't upload data to phone or cloud after a ride, need to connect the super to laptop and upload by copying file to desktop and then uploading.

No point in having routes on the super as you can't access them.

Nabbed a KOM today though so that made me a bit happier, but still struggling to convince myself that a specific computer is far better than my phone that i've been using even if it does occasionally play up.
