Can you tell your riding a decent frame on a direct drive turbo.

Awaiting delivery of an Elite Direto, want to have permanent set up in spare bedroom. Assuming bike fit is good , can you tell if you're riding a decent frame or not. Have a Look 595 not being used at the moment and wandering wether to use this or just a cheap alloy frame.

Doesn't make any difference. You're not suffering the jolts of the road on a turbo to be able to tell. Only issue would be your fit and set up.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
  • Probably not and having a bike permanently on the turbo is sweet. But you'd notice a crappier groupset if the shifting is rubbish and possibly not quite as good power transfer through the cranks.
  • I alternate between my Supersix and the wife's alloy Vitus. Mine has Ultegra and Cannondale Cranks, hers 105 and 105 cranks. Hers is slightly smaller than mine, ever so, but it's comfortable still. Hers has SPD, mine SPD-SL (so of course I change shoes).

    There is no difference.

    Facebook? No. Just say no.
  • As said above your choice of frame makes no one jot of difference when riding indoors as there's no road surface vibration, there's no handling. Where you will still notice the difference is in the quality of the shifting same as you would do outdoors.

    I can tell

I get a lot more of a feeling of guilt when the good bike is on the turbo ..... that kind of guilt that says a frameset like this should be outside doing its job ... where as the cheaper frame I only suffer mild guilt from not going out
