Have a quandary I am currently running challenge fangos that are quite worn and am thinking of replacing them with some grifos but I also have a nearly new pair of limus that i save for proper mud. is it worth buying some more expensive tyres or just fit the limus and use them and use the old fangos for proper hard and dry conditions?

Limus work well in most conditions, if that helps. Don't over-think it though. Unless you're running file treads in wet mud, then most tyres will work ok on most surfaces.
  • thats my thinking, on my spare pit wheels i have a grifo 120tpi on the front and a clement mxp on the rear so i have that option too but i think ill try the limus for now as i like the great cornering grip just worried if there a bit draggy
  • also been reading some interesting reports on chicanes how they are quite good even in wet conditions due to the large limus side knobs....any thoughts on this?
  • bought a pair of grifo open from mantel in the end, does anyone have any tips for preventing the sidewalls from getting badly stained? have seen posts of applying tent waterproofer to the sidewalls. my limus have been used 3 times in proper mud and are very stained.

Other than cleaning them properly not much you can do. Aqua seal is more about preventing the side walls rotting on tubs but they still get stained and can't see the point anyway with clinchers.

Edit: Assuming you want Aquasure, not Aquaseal.

Easier to apply warm - I normally leave it on the radiator beforehand...
    Pannier, 120rpm.
  • Thanks very much for links. I can see now that Aquaseal and Aquasure seem to be the same stuff in identical little tubes. I'll look for the cheapest.
