Brexiting Edge 1000

My Edge 1000 has joined UKIP and is taking back control by refusing to measure distance in KM.

I can go into settings and change to metric and it's fine for that ride, but every time I turn it off it returns to imperial. Just for distance, everything else stays as metric.

Anyone elses Garmin voting Leave, or just mine?

you can get a data field that displays speed/distance etc in the opposite units, so if it was defaulting to miles it would show KMs

Not really an answer to your question or problem but maybe a workaround?

Just send it to me - I like everything in a proper measurement ... ;)
  • My Edge 25 decided to stop communicating with my phone a couple of days ago. It won, I lost and apparently I have to get over it. :(

Brexit mind you is just plain stupid
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

"We've always done it that way" is the worst excuse ever.

Likewise I've never seen the point in using two different measurements for speed just because it's a different vehicle?

You're getting old now, you need to be more curmudgeonly and against change so we've always done it that way should be your mantra.

Hey, I am having the exactly same problem on my Garmin 520, I did try and change the settings but as you say it reverts back to UK settings after turning it off. I have also noticed that the clock has changed from a 24hr one to a 12hr one... again I can't seem to change that either.

Did you manage to fix it? It is incredibly annoying.

Nope, not fixed it. I'm guessing it's the result of a recent update.

Same here. No apparent workaround (tried all proffered solutions re: logging into the car crash that is Garmin Connect, using their awful app, trying all possible combinations of logging off, logging on, switching off, clearing caches etc). Recall this happened sometime in 2016 after a software update. Had to wait for the next one. Clear rule 24 violation and unacceptable: need to amend my aesthetic preferences to stomach the Wahoo Bolt; but chances are that would f&*k up in a different way, because everything electronical is shite (YMMV).
  • Sync your device.
In GarminConnect (web version) set the units etc in "My device" to whatever you want. (If already set as you want, set to something else, save, set them back as you want them, save)
    Sync your device.

Why does it happen? Sometimes when updates are made to GarminConnect backend & for whatever reason they revert to the defaults - which are aimed at the US market.

Ah, cool. I assume it has to be the web version and not the mobile app?

Unless the mobile app allows you to manage each device individually now (it never used to) then it has to be the web.
