5700 sti what rear mech for cx bike?

Hi rear mech ripped off and got abit mangled in spokes.

So I want a new one, iv'e heard shimano 9 speed mtb mechs will be compatible cable pull ratio and "good for cx" is this true?

    I do not know about the CX bit but I have had a 5700 shifter working perfectly with a 9 speed MTB rear mech.

    Yes it is true... I use a 9 speed XT with 5700 shifters

    I put a deore on and it works fine.

    Didn't realize though long cage mechs were so long, looks massive/closer to ground, will have to be careful of rocks/etc
