Refitting the same chain

Hi

I have to change a crank & front derailleur on a Sora 3550 set up. Can I remove the chain and refit the same chain or will taking the chain off not allow it to be refitted?

I can see plenty of guidance on fitting a new chain but nothing on refitting the same chain

    Depends what mileage you have on the chain, I personally wouldn't put a worn chain on a new crankset, you can remove the chain if it has a quick link or if you have a chain breaker tool, and re-use it. If it is a directional chain make sure you put it back the same way as it was originally fitted.
