He's right. Put the word 'cycling' against any commodity and the price goes up.

I'd expect like running socks they have a ring/dabs of silicon around the top to stop them slipping down, as well as wicking properties in the fabric.
The only disability in life is a poor attitude.
  • Just the price. I just use my gym socks (Nike cushioned ankle socks) for cycling so I don't have buy rip-off cycling socks.

PX do bundles of socks for the price of not much at all. I wear them for cycling running and the office. Nothing bad happens.
  • Yep not much.

But, after nearly seven years I bought a brand new pair of Woollie Boollies the other day and when I put them on it felt like my feet were in heaven. Shame they don't affect the rest of my body in the same way.
  • Last year I bought two pairs of 'proper cycling' Merino wool socks. After the first wash they shrunk to a kids size even though they were washed and dried and per the instructions on the packaging. They were very expensive and didn't keep my feet warmer than my Nike sports socks.

You're correct too. But I believe Triathlon specific socks are much more expensive.
  • Well I'd be lost without my Caratti socks! Ok £5 a pair is a touch steep but me plates don't get sweaty & the shoes still smell good.
  • Mainly worth having decent socks when it's really cold. I wear DeFeet wool ones (I think they're the Wooleator model) all year round (if it's too hot for them I tend not to wear socks at all). They are comfy and wick well. Also shorter than typical sport socks as well, so they don't show over the top of overshoes/get in the way of TT calf guards etc.
  • The On One Thicky/Thinny socks at http://www.planetx.co.uk/c/q/clothing/footwear/socks seem decent to me, but like everything there, the price goes up and down like DFS. Think I got a few 3-pack sets for easily less than £9 each last year.

I only wear Rapha when cycling. They are £500 a pair, and do have a stripe on one foot.

My Assos ones were only £495 and they have left on one foot and right on the other, just in case you try to put both socks on one foot.
  • on a serious note, the Help for Heroes sports socks (both ankle high and trainer cut) are really good quality, feel really nice and all for a good cause.

Do you have an online code, I need to get those. I put both Rapha ones on the same foot the other day, and your ones would be better.

Even better the right one is white and the left one is black or is it the other way round. However because I have two pair and sometimes are a little bit of a risk taker. I wear a right one on the right foot and a right one on the left foot, two socks of the same colour it could start a movement.
I can't give you the code for them as they were " specials" at my local bike shop.

    Bargain - I'll have 5 pairs please.

Yes I especially like the ‘duck socks’ being a supporter of Stoke City FC.

Follow the ‘Rules’ and you can’t go wrong:

The socks of the Euro Cyclist shall extend to within two (2) cm. of the main bulge of the calf muscle, and shall never extend further than one (1) cm. past said primary calf muscle bulge. All socks SHALL BE WHITE in colour with prominent logo placement.
