chain/cassette for training runs rough

I have a new propel which has covered no more than 250 miles. Ive just bought another 11-28 11 speed cassette and added it to a Zonda rear wheel to use on a turbo trainer.

I can definitely feel the chain moving over the new cassette. Its not unbearable by any means but pretty rough. Is it likely that I will just have to be patient and let the cassette bed in with the slightly use chain or would the only fix be getting a brand new chain (even though I am not changing the standard cassette)?

Thanks,

  • It sounds like your original chain and cassette are pretty new anyway so I'd be surprised if the difference was down to a new cassette.

My guess is your chain line is slightly different on the Zonda when compared to your usual wheel (due to slight differences in the freehub). You may need to adjust your high/low limit screws on your rear mech each time you switch wheels.

Have you tried your "old" cassette on the Zonda as a comparison?
