Hi, new to this forum. I am buying a Brompton and am wondering if people lock them up sometimes outside? I plan to generally take it in with me to shops etc. But when I can't take it in with me somewhere, would I be able to lock it folded up with my Abus U lock?

If you lock it up outside it will go. Very nickable. I take mine into shops and cafes etc. No bother.

Hi thanks for reply. I know they would be a target for thieves, but wouldn't a good U lock stop them from being able to nick it, in a crowded area for example. I am asking because there will be a couple of places I can't take the bike into, like in a football ground.

Up to you - but there's no way I'd risk it in places like those. Up to you - but no guarantees.

    I have seen bromptons with these mounted on : https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Abus-Bordo-600 ... qoEALw_wcB

But I'd look for an option where it's out of sight. Some footy grounds do have left luggage facilities.

If you are at a footy ground for a game that's even worse as they know exactly how long they have until you would be back.....

You can get a fabric bag to put it in - that will let you get into more places.

I'd not bother with a football ground though....
  • Yep. Maybe I shouldn't bother taking it to football. Even if it is still there I would not be able to enjoy the match without worrying about it being pinched! Yeah getting that bag that carries it. Ordered my Brompton yesterday. Can't wait!
