I just helped move son and his girlfriend out of a rented flat and into our dining room / garage / shed / loft (don't ask) but en-route we dropped a couple of bits of furniture and her bike at her Aunt's house. They were still on holiday but by prior arrangement we had a garage key which I finally persuaded to turn.

OM actual G! A double garage stuffed to bursting with bikes. A tandem, 2 Bromptons, 3 Condors, 2 recumbents, 2 other folders, a couple of Islabikes and some other stuff I can't remember. And the best bit was they were on a cycling holiday so had their best bikes with them!

I felt kind of dirty cluttering up the place with furniture and a £200 Carrera hybrid

It's a solid building with a very well engineered German garage door / lock and it took me 10 minutes to open it with the key after the 3 youngsters had all tried and given up. I imagine a determined thief would be in there in seconds though...

I'm not daft enough to be giving any clues about the location on a public forum. I was so obviously mesmerised by their collection if anything goes missing plod will be coming round to chat to me first

Please could you put more distance between the words bike and cave in the title? The k in bike means I keep thinking cake is involved and it's making me hungry.
Best bike cave I ever saw was the lunch stop on an audax. a couple allowed their back garden to be taken over by a motley selection of cyclists, when using their facilities I saw an open door leading to the garage with rows of bikes hanging. Didn't get close enough to see what there was, but I was still envious.

Is that any better? I put loads of spaces in but it just ignored them. So I've removed the reference to CAKE / Bike

Thank you, I just raided a colleagues biscuit tin as well so the combination of the two has worked perfectly, didn't see any cake other than in your post. . :-)
