Using my phone as a camera

Does anyone do this ?
I have a cheap camera from eBay but the quality is poor. My phone would record far better video.
I mount it on the handlebars as it is more stable, I would do the same with my phone. So what about mounts ? Does anyone have any experience with this who might know which mounts are best ?
I only commute to and from work, if conditions are too wet or cold I'll use the bus instead so my phone wouldn't be getting too wet.

Just my daily commute incase of accidents, about 20 minutes riding each way.0

Phones don't have any stability sensors in them so any ride will look like a crappy YouTube clip shaking all over the place. Go pros etc have a stabilisation sensor to keep the pic reasonably steady.0

If you did have an accident with your phone stuck on the front of your bike you won't be able to get the footage off it anyway. Because it will be broken.0

No don't use your phone. Get a second hand gopro or something.0

I got a Gopro clone (SJcam SJ4000) from amazon and it's really good quality.
Was only about £40 too0 -

If I have a crash and my phone gets smashed up, same applies to a camera doesn't it ?
My phone is a Huawei P9, it has two lenses apparently designed to deliver more stable recording.
Even second hand go pro's are gonna be at least £100 which I don't want to spend.0 -

drop your phone on the floor then drop an action camera on the floor, see what happens!!
if it is just for recording in case of an accident then something like this* should be more than fine:

You already have the phone, so why not just try it out? Then come back and write a review.0

It is possibly how GoPro came to exist. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

This is the correct answer. I bought the same one for my son.
Will be perfect for what you need, you can buy kit with loads of different mounts (helmet/body/bars) for another 8 quidGET WHEEZY - WALNUT LUNG RACING TEAM™0 -
Attach it to your forehead with a headband. Nobody will look at you and think you're a right tw@t.0

If you were going to attempt trolling you could've done a better job, found a mount so I'll have a go when it arrives.
I use the camera a bit for my job and it involves moving it around and it always looks fine, I can't imagine any other camera would look much better if at all.0 -
Lack of imagination. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

That was no attempt at trolling, just trying to help someone who appears to have no imagination.0

I think this would work great with a decent mount. If you get one then take a look at these dash cam phone apps that will do what you need:

Go for it and good luck. Let us know how you get on!0 -
