Cannondale quick 4 vs Pinnacle Neon 4 (2016)

I had a Cannondale Quick 4 but came of my bike trashing the forks and giving the frame a few knocks. Luckily insurance paid out so i'm in a position where I can get a new bike.
The Cannondale was nice at first but I quickly started having problems with the gears not changing well and I'm starting to see the appeal of drop bars and getting a proper road bike. However a friend is willing to sell me their virtually new Pinnacle Neon 4 for £300.
The more I look at the Pinnancle which is evans own brand the more i'm convinced it must be made by Cannondale. Does anyone have an opinions on how the two bikes compare and what they think of it the £300 offer.
