I plan on buying a trek domane which comes w Bontrager Affinity Comp TLR Disc Road Wheels. I couldn't find any decent reviews on these wheels.
Does anyone have any experience w the affinity comp.
I am contemplating upgrading.
Upgrade considerations include:
Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3 TLR carbon-$1200 for a full carbon wheelset but they're new so no reviews.
HED Ardennes LT or Zipp 30 course-great wheels though it's an alloy to alloy upgrade.
Open to suggestions.
Thx

  • the problem reviews tell you little unless they are really good. First are the freehub and other hub spares available when you need them.

What is the spoke count, what spokes have they used. How thick is spoke nipple bed this can be determined by looking at how much nipples spokes through the rim.

Have nipple washers been used and if so are they allow or steel? If alloy nipples have they used have they used a threadlocker like sapim nipple freeze or rock n roll nipple cream which does a damm fine job or stopping the dreaded galvanic corrosion. So many details and they are all important but rarely mentioned in reviews.

These are the things I look for, how well a wheel rolls e.t.c is all guff.
