Sealant in tubs

Hi all.

Does anyone add sealant to their tubs?

Thinking about doing it, but am wondering what one then does at the end of the season as presumably it needs to be cleaned out to stop it gunking up over the summer.

Cheers

It's not a great idea, except for Tufo tubs. You can get a bit of extra life out of punctured tubs with sealant, but it causes all sorts of problems, and you're much better off repairing them properly.

Tufos work well with their extreme (possibly other) sealants, and can be pre-loaded, although once you get some gunk in the valve it gets increasingly hard to fine-tune race pressures.
  • Sounds like great advice. Thanks a million for that.
