    I recall a conversation with Colin Sturgess. He was riding in a Kermesse having turned pro after his world pursuit title. He was on Bontempi's wheel and Bontempi was pulling 54 x 11 and Colin was struggling to hold his wheel.

    If MM was pulling 54 x 11 with his legendary cadence, he would have insufficient forward motion to stay upright.
