Now you can simulate gradients from 20% uphill to 10% downhill....

(but only if you have a KICKR2 and £450 to spare)

Not sure I'd buy one, but I'll be lining up to demo one as soon as it lands in a local bike shop!

:D

Hmmm, I wasn't sure what they meant by 'new 2017 kickr', do they defo mean the v2 which has been on sale for a while now, or do they mean a new 3rd version?

To answer my own point, everything I can find, including DCRainmaker's 1st look suggests that the new 2017 kickr is indeed v3, so Climb is not compatible with v1 or v2 kickrs. Phew, saved me a few quid ;)

So £1,500 to make virtual more realistic.

    Take my money

Yep i think it is but with very minimal update, aside from the compatibility with the new Kickr Climb
  • Still not very good at climbing out the saddle. Climbing is a lot about rhythm and if you can't realistically get out the saddle and swing the bike about it's a bit of a let down.

To use the Kickr Climb, you need the Kickr that has the hub/QR adapters which allow the bike to rotate about the rear dropout.

I don't know which model that is and I'll be buying neither, but I thought that information might be useful.

I just built a climbing bike with full SRAM Red, for less than that... really does put it in perspective, eh?

  • I'd really like to be a "hater" on this. But I can't.

For myself, yeah, totally pointless. I live somewhere that if you're not a totally whiny baby you can ride outdoors most of winter time without issue.

But, for someone who may live somewhere that winter time means pretty much zero outdoor riding for months at a time.............I can sympathize. If you have the cash, go ahead and build up a big-screen TV zwift setup with smart trainer and this doo-dad and blow $2000 total.

If I was coop'd up indoors for 3 months of winter with no opportunity to ride outdoors, I bet I'd think this was pretty awesome.

I bet Wahoo knows the statistics on this and has introduced the product accordingly. Good luck to them on selling it successfully after taking that bet, and good luck to the buyers on enjoying it.
  • SawDC Rain doing a quick vid of the Climb..it looks jerky..not smooth at all....that doesn't look like any kind of investment I will be making..sounds like you need a new Kickr possibly too..no thank you..my man cave already cost too much!!
  • Yes you need a 2017 KICKR to use this Climb doodad. I love seeing the companies push indoor training boundaries and just look how many people are total Zwift addicts. It's cool tech for sure. Not for me, but I can see the appeal if you had to endure a deep Canadian winter!
  • Certainly a no-go for me if it will only work with the 2017 Kickr - but Wahoo have said they have no problems with other manufacturers supporting it, so let's hope they do. It's still pricey but it's something I would be interested in as I do more indoor riding than outdoors these days.
